Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2014 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Neuere Deutsche Literatur, Note: 2,7, Universität zu Köln, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die vorliegende Hausarbeit wird der Frage nachgehen, wie die Religionsthematik von Conrad Ferdinand Meyer in seiner Novelle "Das Amulett" ironisierend dargestellt wird. Zunächst soll die Ironie als literarisches Stilmittel und Prinzip untersucht werden, um diese Erkenntnisse schließlich auf das Amulett anzuwenden und zu erörtern, wie speziell der Religionsaspekt ironisierend dargestellt wird. Die zugrunde liegende Novelle wurde von Meyer 1872/73 verfasst. Erste Aufzeichnungen zu dem Stoff machte er bereits in den 1860er Jahren und untermauerte diese später mit historischem Wissen. Seine Reise nach Paris 18571 bildete "den lebendig geschauten Hintergrund"2 zu der vorliegenden Novelle. Der reformierte Deutsch-Schweizer Hans Schadau von Bern schreibt rückblickend die Geschichte seiner Jugendfreundschaft mit dem Katholiken Wilhelm Boccard von Fryburg nieder. Schadau wurde nach dem Tod der Eltern von seinem Oheim nach calvinistischer Lehre erzogen. Um dort auf den Ausbruch eines bereits länger erwarteten Krieges zur Befreiung der von den Spaniern besetzten Niederlande zu warten zieht er später nach Paris, da er unter Admiral Coligny dienen möchte. Auf dem Weg dorthin lernt er sowohl Boccard, als auch den Parlamentrat Chatillon mit seiner vermeintlichen Nichte Gasparde, die seine Ehefrau werden soll, kennen. Boccard erzählt in dem Gespräch, welches die verschiedenen Religionsansichten zum Thema hat, dass er stets ein Amulett bei sich trägt, da die Muttergottes von Einsiedeln ihn von der Kinderlähmung geheilt hat. Mit Boccard erlebt er auch 1572 die Schrecken der Pariser Hugenotten-Verfolgung und der Bartholomäusnacht. Dabei rettet Boccard Schadau zwei Mal selbstlos das Leben, einmal durch das Amulett, welches der Novelle ihren Titel gibt.
