About the Book

Our story moves now past Waiting for Friday to today, and tomorrow. Are we being presumptuous? Possibly. The Color of Ink is a small book about Truth and Consequences. Ernie Hemmingway told the truth about fake news in Yellow Ink, his famous book about ethics in journalism. Why does Cameron Fraser tell Holly Hemmingway now about his real self in university? Fake news is nothing new (the hairy arm of Esau in the book of Genesis). But today it's a science. And global. Foreign actors use 'Perception Management" to set us against us, my party against yours, your tribe against mine. There's an algorithm for that. Harrington Black, Dean of The Carter School of Journalism, recently wrote 'Ruts 'R Us, ' an Op-Ed in The New York Times. He also wrote Hemmingway's Way, and says we now know how to put Ruts 'R Us' out of business. In The Color of Ink, Cam and Holly discover a secret plot by a venal company and organized crime to replace a group of rural health clinics with a giant hospital. How do they deal with it? Look twice. You might be amazed. Ernie and Sarah's story in Waiting for Friday continues here with their daughters and 'grandgirls, ' whose Sisters' Systems turned the tech world on its hard-of-hearing ear in 2022. There wasn't an algorithm for that.
About the Author: FRANK MCGEE BIOGRAPHY Frank McGee's professional life has been varied, if unconventional. Self described as a photo-journalist, he was Managing Editor of PACE Magazine in Los Angeles, Editor of NEW WORLDS Magazine in Orange County, California, Publisher of the BUSHMILLS GRAND PRIX offshore racing program in Newport Beach, Publisher of BALLOONFEST for KODAK, Writer of THE FIRST TWENTY FIVE YEARS for the University of California, Irvine, Managing Editor of IRVINE Magazine, Writer of PROFILES OF SUCCESS for Network TwentyOne, and Author of A SONG FOR THE WORLD, the four musicians who sparked the global phenomenon of Up with People. For two decades he and his wife, Helen, worked in thirty-plus countries with a conflict resolution NGO, using theater, music, and personal counseling to help unite families, resolve industry disputes, and build bridges between social communities. Their list of mentors includes journalists, academics, public servants, sociologists, philosophers, impresarios, theologians, statesmen and stateswomen. McGee's photographic career began in Brazil, when he and Helen were hosting famed Broadway singer Muriel Smith during her first visit to Rio de Janeiro. They were standing beneath the enormous sculpture of Christ the Redeemer that watches over Guanabara Bay. Helen said she thought it would be nice to have a picture of Ms Smith in front of the statue. 'Click.' Two days later the photo was on the front page of O GLOBO, Brazil's leading newspaper. "This is easy," thought McGee. He followed his cameras to photograph actor Steve McQueen filming 'The Thomas Crowne Affair, ' stock car racing champion Richard Petty competing at Darlington Raceway in South Carolina, artist Jamie Wyeth painting in Pennsylvania, national student leaders marching with thousands in Jakarta, Indonesia, and a remarkable tour on assignment for PACE Magazine embedded with units of the United States Marine Corps during the Viet Nam War. McGee's latest book, WAITING FOR FRIDAY, is based on an actual midcentury murder. An Amazon reviewer on October 25, 2017, wrote: "In this superb "cold case" mystery thriller, McGee effectively gives this tale enough pseudo-realism to make readers wonder whether there really was a brutal rape and murder in a sleepy town in 1942 California. He combines the arcana of investigative journalism with the horrors of prefrontal lobotomies to produce a compelling read."
