Dies führte bereits im letzten Jahrhundert zu einer weitreichenden Kommerzialisierung der ayurvedischen Pharmazie. Die Vermarktung und Modernisierung des Ayurveda wird in Indien vor allem von der entsprechenden Pharmaindustrie vorangetrieben. Die Motivation der ayurvedischen Pharmaunternehmen sind dabei kurzfristige Profite. Um diese Gewinne zu realisieren, setzen die Unternehmen vermehrt auf den Verkauf überteuerter "over-the-counter" Produkte. In welcher Form verändert der Mechanismus der Kommerzialisierung den "klassischen" Ayurveda und wie werden die Medikamente durch die entsprechende Pharmaindustrie vermarktet? Welche Veränderungen entstehen dadurch für Praktizierende des Ayurvedas in Indien und die entsprechenden Patienten? Um diesen Fragen nachzugehen, soll als erstes die geschichtliche Entstehung der ayurvedischen Pharmaindustrie thematisiert werden, um anschließend einen Überblick über den Prozess der Kommerzialisierung ayurvedischer Formeln und Präparate durch die entsprechenden Unternehmen, zu geben. Es soll erarbeitet werden, welche Zielgruppe die Medikamente in Indien anspricht und welche, teilweise ambivalente, Argumente und Marketingstrategien dazu verwendet werden. Die Vermarktung des Ayurvedas in Indien und im Westen greift bestimmte kulturelle Ängste und Wünsche auf. Auch soll gezeigt werden, dass der Konsum von Medikamenten mit dem menschlichen Wunsch nach Magie und Kontrolle der Natur in Verbindung gebracht werden kann, und dass die Pharmaunternehmen diesen Mechanismus zur Vermarktung ihrer Produkte nutzen, oder zumindest von ihm profitieren. About the Author: Seit 2013 besitze ich einen B.A. in Ethnologie / Indologie und vergleichender Religionswissenschaft. Während des Bachelors lag mein Fokus vor allem auf indischen Medizinsystemen (Ayurveda, Siddha usw.) und indischer Phillosophie, Kunst & Architektur, sowie Hinduismus und Buddhismus. Als 2015 die Flüchtlingskriese ihren Hochpunkt erreicht hatte, stieg ich in die Flüchtlingssozialarbeit ein. Im Augenblick absolviere ich ein zweites Studium (Soziale Arbeit ) an der SRH Fernhochschule in Riedlingen und arbeite zusätzlich weiter in der Flüchtlingshilfe.
