Angiogenese, die Bildung neuer Blutgefasse durch Aussprossung aus einem bestehenden Gefassnetz, ist ein wichtiges Phanomen, dem verschiedene physiologische und pathologische Bedingungen zugrunde liegen. Fortschritte in der Erforschung der grundlegenden Mechanismen dieser Art der Gefassbildung scheinen grosse Bedeutung in der Krebsforschung und -therapie zu haben. Das Dottersackgefasssystem von befruchteten und bebruteten Huhnereiern wird als in vivo Untersuchungsmodell genutzt und das angiogene Wachstum durch die automatische Berechnung der Lange und der Durchmesser der Gefasse sowie der mittleren Strecke zwischen Gefassverzweigungen untersucht. Aus diesem Grund sollte ein interaktiver Ansatz entwickelt werden, der Gefassdetektions- und -analysemethoden enthalt. Es wurden verschiedene Glattungsoperatoren und Segmentierungsverfahren erarbeitet und an einer ausgewahlten Stichprobe getestet, um die fur diese Art Bilder am besten geeignete Methode zu finden. Analysedaten wie die gesamte Gefasslange, der mittlere Gefassdurchmesser und der mittlere Abstand zwischen je zwei Gefassverzweigungen konnen dann aus den binarisierten Bildern berechnet werden. Um die lokalen Kontrastparameter, die die Klassifikation der Wasserscheidenregionen in Gefass- und Hintergrundregionen bestimmen, durch den Anwender einstellen zu lassen, wurde eine grafische Benutzerschnittstelle entworfen und implementiert. Zusatzlich werden dem Anwender verschiedene interaktive Korrekturmoglichkeiten angeboten, um typische Klassifikationsfehler zu beseitigen. Damit kann das Gefasssystem nahezu perfekt detektiert werden. Mit diesem Gefasserkennungssystem wurden Bilder von verschieden behandelten Fallgruppen ausgewertet. Anhand der Analysedaten Gefasslange, mittlerer Durchmesser und mittlerer Abstand zwischen zwei Gefassverzweigungen konnte verstarktes angiogenetisches Wachstum bei einer Behandlungsgruppe gegenuber einer Kontrollgruppe nachgewiesen werden.
