In den letzten Jahren ist in der Betriebswirtschaftslehre das Interesse an mikroöko- nomischen Erklärungsansätzen deutlich gestiegen. Neue Ideen und Konzepte werden auf die Fragen nach dem Verhältnis von Markt und Unternehmung, nach den ökono- mischen Funktionen der Organisation einer Unternehmung sowie zur Erklärung dau- erhaft beobachtbarer Verhaltensweisen von Unternehmen angewendet. Die Unterneh- mung wird dabei nicht nur als ein spezifischer Koordinationsmechanismus, sondern auch als ein spezielles Vertragssystem im Marktzusammenhang gesehen. Organisati- onsgestalter sind dann nicht mehr nur mit Problemen der Ausgestaltung eines Mecha- nismus zur Koordination der Entscheidungen von Organisationsmitgliedern und zur Sicherung der Kooperationsbedingungen konfrontiert. Sie müssen sich zudem mit der Tatsache beschäftigen, daß die Organisation einer Unternehmung auch Kosten ver- ursacht. Die Auseinandersetzung mit diesen Kosten, den Organisationskosten, wird damit zu einem zentralen Thema der betriebswirtschaftlichen Organisationstheorie, wenn und insoweit man diese als Organisationsökonomie begreifen will. Schwierigkei- ten ergeben sich dabei nicht nur beim Messen der einschlägigen Kosten. Sie ergeben sich auch als Folge der Tatsache, daß Organisationsgestalter sehr unterschiedliche Koordinationsmechanismen bei der Befolgung ihrer Ziele einsetzen können. Diese Mechanismen reichen von Bürokratien über diverse partizipative Organisationskon- zepte bis hin zum Einsatz von sogenannten Organisationskulturen. Die vorliegende Arbeit, eine Dissertation an der Freien Universität Berlin, geht von diesen Voraussetzungen aus und fragt, ob und inwieweit sich Auktionen und Aus- schreibungen als Koordinationstechnik der internen Organisation zur Reduktion von Organisationskosten einsetzen lassen. Hintergrund ist die Theorie der Auktion von Einzelobjekten.
