Ranjini Rao & Ruchira Ramanujam have picked up a motley of aromas, tastes and inspirations for their culinary experiments over the years. Having lived in the US for over a decade, their friendship began with food when they met on the way to a community potluck, and has seen them through many kitchen disasters and sampling sojourns. They’ve exchanged notes on and tasted each other’s first-attempt bricklike breads, khichdis and soups during times of illnesses, star-piped butterceam frosted cartoon character cakes for their little ones, and masala buns smuggled into movie theatres. They started blogging at Tadka Pasta two years ago and with a collection of about two hundred unique recipes under their banner, they went on to publish an eBook, Mango Masala: 60 Indian Recipes From Your Local Supermarket, last year, which became a #1 bestseller on Amazon within a week of its release.
