English summary: The poetics of contemporary German theater, from the Renaissance to Brecht, are at the center of this study. The study focuses in particular on the place of Aristotle in the successive developments of theater, especially in the bourgeois tragedies of Lessing. A travers les affrontements historiques de l'archaique et des successives modernites, il apparait toutefois qu'il existe depuis la Renaissance des aristotelismes que revelent gloses et entre-gloses. La pensee du theatre et ses realisations portent la trace de ce bouillonnement pluriseculaire. L'Allemagne, retenue ici comme champ d'observation, eclaire ce qu'il en fut, du theatre confessionnel jusqu'a Brecht en passant par la fete baroque (Lohenstein), la tragedie bourgeoise (Lessing), les traitements du mythe et de l'histoire par A.W. Schlegel, Kleist et Grabbe. La Poetique n'a cesse de nourrir la reflexion, Aristote apparaissant alors moins comme une norme ou une cible que comme un moyen pour exprimer des conceptions parfois diametralement opposees. Si Lessing est place au centre chronologique de ce livre, la confrontation de la theorie et des ecritures dramatiques et sceniques revele, dans l'eloignement du texte-source opere par le romantisme, une fecondite paradoxale, visible jusque dans sa negation la plus radicale.
About the Author: Jean-Marie Valentin (Sorbonne/IUF), membre de la Deutsche Akademie fur Sprache und Dichtung, est specialiste de la poetique du theatre allemand depuis le XVIe siecle. Aux Editions Klincksieck il a donne en 2010 une traduction commentee de la Dramaturgie de Hambourg de G.E. Lessing et co-dirige en 2012 Bertolt Brecht et la theorie dramatique.
