About the Author: About the Author Fredrick Keith LaForge was born in Edmonton, Alberta, and was raised by loving parents on a farm near Sandholm. He attended Thorsby, Junior and High Schools, and has many teachers to thank for their dedication to learning and discipline, of those; Stan Zurek and Frank Kozar were head of their class. Fredrick joined the Royal Canadian Artillery in 1962; he graduated from the Officer Candidate Program and went on to command at every level from Second Lieutenant to Colonel in his 35 years of service to the Canadian Army and the Canadian Armed Forces. Along the way Fredrick married Vivian van Aggelen, together they proudly raised three successful children, all of who have produced grandchildren; the light and love of their families continues through the eyes of young children. Fredrick attended and immensely enjoyed the learning experiences acquired at Brandon University, The University of Manitoba (BA), the Canadian Army Staff Course, Kingston, Ontario, The Australian Army Staff College, Queenscliff, Victoria, and the NATO Defence College, Rome.
