About the Author: Ditha Brickwell, geboren 1941 in Wien, lebt in Berlin und Wien, wo sie als Architekturstudentin Anfang der sechziger Jahre bereits Freundschaft mit der Wiener Bohème geschlossen hatte. Doch sie begann erst spät zu schreiben. Davor lagen Studien- und Wanderjahre, die sie nach Jerusalem, New York, Helsinki, Paris und London führten - und lange Berufserfahrung in der Regionalentwicklung und der Europäischen Zusammenarbeit. Ditha Brickwell schreibt Romane, Erzählungen und Essays. Bislang sind neun Bücher auf dem Markt. Im Februar 2009 erschien das jüngste Buch, die Novelle "Verletzte Paradiese" im Mandelbaumverlag. Der Roman Angstsommer (Mandelbaum) erzählt vom Jahr 1945 in Ober-Österreich, von seinen Schrecken und Burlesken im Vakuum der Macht nach dem großen Krieg. Der Roman "Der Kinderdieb" (Deuticke) spielt im düsteren Wien der fünfziger Jahre; sorgfältig erkundete Ereignisse werden in eine erdichtete Erzählung verwoben. Drei Künstlerbücher mit Texten von Ditha Brickwell sind in der "Mariannenpresse" und in der "Quetsche" (Verlag für Buchkunst) erschienen, u. a. "Jede Stunde Stille Nacht". In dem Essay "Vollendete Sicherheit" macht die Autorin mit Welten der Sicherheit bekannt - und wie Sicherheit selbst zur Gefahr wird. Für den Essayroman "Die Akte Europa - eine Utopie geht verloren" (Wieser Verlag) erhielt Ditha Brickwell einen Bruno Kreisky-Preis für das politische Buch 2008.
