Sherry Martin Peters

Sherry Martin PetersSherry's childhood was nothing short of extraordinary. As an MK (missionary kid), she spent her formative years in a boarding school in Bolivia. At the tender age of ten, her everyday adventures included frolicking in shallow riverbanks, learning Spaish, conversing with her parents over the CB radio, or hopping rides in Cessna airplanes to visit her parents in the jungle. This unconventional upbringing ignited a passion for independence and a thirst for global exploration, eventually propelling her toward a career as an international flight attendant with a major U.S. airline. Sherry's path shifted in 2001 after the World Trade Center tragedy. She seized the opportunity to move to Italy to study Italian, and she then attended California's renowned Brooks Institute of Photography, channeling her love for the art of photojournalism. Photographing the iconic Primal Quest Adventure Race in the Pacific Northwest and taking a travel writing workshop with Don George, an author affiliated with Lonely Planet, were among her pivotal life experiences. With the shifting tides of tradition, elopements started to shed their former stigma, and Sherry reunited with her first love, Chris. They eloped on the beach in 2013 in St. Croix, USVI. Her decision to elope fueled her passion to frame other couples' love stories against breathtaking backdrops like Glacier National Park and Assateague Island National Seashore, long before adventure elopements became trendy.Sherry was just one of the few participants in the Dirty Boots and Messy Hair workshop in May 2019, one that truly ignited the adventure eloping trend. As elopements surged in popularity, Sherry was a trailblazer in the movement. Leveraging her vast experience in photographing adventure sports, destination weddings, and her love for adventure and travel, she embarked on this passion project to share her expertise and enthusiasm for adventure elopements.Sherry's story is a testament to a life lived boldly and passionately. Beyond her photographic and travel pursuits, Sherry stays busy with multiple projects and is on the board at an orphanage in Haiti, Diakonos International Inc., where she and her husband have personal relationships with and sponsor three children. To see what else she is up to, you can visit her photography website, TheWildLoveCollective.com. Sherry lives north of Boston, MA, with her two kitties, and she is happily married to her husband, Chris. For more information, please visit Sherry's author website: SherryMartinPeters.com.
