O Tapani RämöTapani Rämö studied geology and mineralogy in the University of Helsinki. He worked as researcher, teaching assistant and acting lecturer and professor at the Department of Geology from 1985-2002 an was appointed to the post of professor of geology ad mineralogy in 2003. Rämö has specialized in granite petrology and isotope geochemistry and has participated actively in several IGCP projects: secretary of Project 315 (Rapakivi Granites and Related Rocks) in 1991-96, co-leader of Project 426 (Granite Systems and Proterozoic Lithospheric Processes) in 1998-03, and co-leader of Project 510 (A-type Granites and Related Rocks through Time) in 2005-10. Rämö has led several Finnish and international research projects, organized numerous international symposia on granitic rocks, and edited several books and special issues dealing with granitic rocks.
