About the Author: From the corporate world to the spy world and from rape victim to motherhood, Tonya Dawn Recla embodies the definition of integration. Her unique blend of masculine and feminine energy combined with her experiences, her knowledge and her willingness to look at herself have all shaped her sense of intrinsic personal power. Her journey of integrating her own power fueled her passion to serve. In academia Tonya earned her master's degree from Arizona State University. She studied Education and Critical Theory, graduated with honors in Intercultural Communication and taught courses as an instructor. While at ASU she trained thousands of people in intergroup relations and the intricacies of social identities. As an academic leader, Tonya played an integral role in the development of the Intergroup Relations Center, an entity that stood for over 11 years at ASU. Following the 9/11 terrorists attacks, Tonya enlisted in the Army and joined the ranks of counterintelligence professionals. She became a Special Agent as a soldier and later pursued espionage and terrorism suspects as a civilian. She taught at the Counterintelligence Special Agent Course where she wrote a class on the intricacies of the communication process, creative and critical thinking, the power of mindset and the ultimate downfall of an ego-driven existence. As a victim she was raped twice, the second time occurred while on a classified mission with her surveillance team.
