Die globalen Entwicklungen in den vergangenen Jahrzehnten führten zu einer permanenten Erhöhung unseres Lebensstandards, jedoch verursachen sie auch radikale Veränderungen in unserer Gesellschaft und scheinen unsere gegenwärtigen Wirtschaftsformen zu überfordern. Wirtschafts- und Finanzkrisen belasten die öffentlichen Kassen, Migration oder Arbeitslosigkeit beschäftigen die Bevölkerungen der westlichen Welt. Menschen, die sich mit diesen gesellschaftlichen Problemen auseinandersetzen, um sie mit einer unternehmerischen Herangehensweise zu lösen, hat es in der Vergangenheit schon immer gegeben, jedoch fehlte ihnen bisher eine Identität. Der Ashoka-Gründer Bill Draython bezeichnet diese Unternehmen als Social Entrepreneurs. In den vergangenen Jahren hat sich das Phänomen Social Entrepreneurship rapide ausgebreitet. Sozial orientierte Unternehmen, Non-Profit Organizations (NPO) oder Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) erfüllen sowohl heute, als auch in der Vergangenheit einen wichtigen Beitrag, werden aber zunehmend vor komplexere Herausforderungen gestellt. Diese wissenschaftliche Arbeit analysiert Sozialunternehmen und deren typische Charakteristika in Deutschland.
About the Author: Patrick Weirich, B.Sc., wurde 1989 in Zell (Mosel) geboren. Sein Studium in Entrepreneurship and Economies of small and medium sized Enterprises an der Hochschule Koblenz und der Socio-State University Saratov (RU) schloss der Autor 2014 ab. Bereits während des Studiums befasste sich der Autor intensiv mit den Themen Nachhaltigkeit und Sozialem Unternehmertum. Darüber hinaus engagierte er sich als Vorstandsmitglied in einer internationalen Studentenorganisation und arbeitete als Werksstudent an einem Institut für nachhaltiges Wirtschaften. Weirich nahm außerdem an einem Programm einer russischen Universität zum ökonomischen Wandel teil und analysierte als Projektleiter den Markteintritt von einem deutschen Recyclingunternehmen in Russland.
