En Teruel suenan campanas de boda mientra llega a la villa Diego de Marcilla que regresa rico y famoso tras tomar parte en múltiples batallas en España. Diego está enamorado desde niño de Isabel de Segura. Pero ella es de una familia importante, y él es hijo segundo de otra más modesta. Sin embargo, el padre de Isabel accede a darle cinco años de tiempo para enriquecerse, tras los cuales podrá desposar a Isabel. Al llegar descubre que Isabel de Segura acaba de casarse. Le pide un beso pero ella se niega porque ahora pertenece a otro hombre. Diego no resiste la negativa y muere en el acto. Al día siguiente, en los funerales, aparece Isabel de Segura. Se acerca a su amado para darle el beso que le negó en vida, y tras ello muere. La tradición asegura que murieron de amor, por eso fueron enterrados juntos, y juntos han permanecido hasta hoy.
About the Author: Juan Eugenio Hartzenbusch Martinez (Madrid, 1806-Madrid, 1880). Espana Es uno de los mas destacados dramaturgos romanticos. De madre espanola y padre aleman arruinado por la Guerra de Independencia, quedo huerfano de madre a los dos anos y vivio con su padre en Valparaiso de Abajo. En 1815 regreso a Madrid, donde su padre abrio un taller de ebanisteria. Juan Eugenio se dispuso a tomar los habitos jesuitas en el Colegio de San Isidro, aprendio latin, frances y humanidades, pero, al carecer de vocacion religiosa, decidio continuar con la actividad del padre. Tras una enfermedad de este y la confiscacion de sus bienes por participar en los sucesos del Trienio Liberal (1820-1823), trabajo en talleres ajenos. Hartzenbusch tradujo obras de Moliere, Voltaire y Alejandro Dumas y trabajo en el periodico Gaceta de Madrid en 1834;en 1837 fue taquigrafo del Diario de Sesiones del Congreso y el 19 de enero de ese ano estreno con exito en el Teatro del Principe su drama Los amantes de Teruel. Reescribio la obra varias veces;y la edicion definitiva fue publicada en 1849. Desde 1844 trabajo en la Biblioteca Nacional, donde llego a ser director (1862-1876). Ingreso ademas en la Real Academia Espanola en 1847. Murio en 1880.
